Lliupapuquio School

History:

At the end of 2023, the organization knew it needed to expand beyond Cusco. Professor Jorge Luis Fernandez, originally from Andahuaylas and who had been working as a coach at the Pisac School during 2022-2023, proposed a project on his lands in the district of San Jerónimo, Andahuaylas, about 8 hours from Cusco. The project was designed for the communities of Lliupapuquio and Champaccocha and won the 2024 Ruralia fund competition, a Peruvian business initiative that finances rural education projects in Peru. In 2025, together with the Champaccocha School, these projects are funded by the UEFA Foundation. A Foundation office was opened in the Municipality of the Rural Town.

Geography & Location

The district of San Jerónimo is located 20 minutes from the district of Andahuaylas; however, to reach the rural town of Lliupapuquio, you must take a 15-minute detour on a dirt road. The conditions are challenging, and the community grows on rugged terrain; nevertheless, it remains the largest school operated by the Foundation in terms of participants.

In 2024, it was crowned champion at the Interregional Tournament Cusco vs Andahuaylas, a sports competition sponsored by Yape-Digital Wallet.
